2012 Mini Stock Rules
The Mini Stock rules are separated into three levels of compliance so drivers and car builders have more guidance when working on their cars.
These are minimum requirements that every car and driver must adhere to. These requirements are generally inclusive of driver, competitor, staff or spectator safely. CAR techs shall be inspecting and enforcing adherence to these rules.
These are recommendations that CAR suggests for additional safety or for a more competitive and exciting racing. Cars are not excluded from racing if these recommendations are not met. The intent behind these recommendations is to provide guidance for drivers/owners during construction and maintenance of their cars without requiring significant investment to race.
These set of items are completely optional for the driver as they don’t have a significant impact on safety or performance, , but often come up in discuss therefore they are have been listed below for completeness.
Minimum Driver Age
Mini Stock drivers must be at least 13 years of age or older.
Decisions of officials are the final and binding without exception. In all cases, track safety rules will take precedence over oval rules – any discrepancy between track rules should be brought to the attention of track official. Any rule changes to clarifications during the course of the year will be posted on the web site and will be considered as an official part of the rules.
1. Car Frame, Body and Driver's Compartment
1.1.1. All makes and models, must me front wheel drive and only 4 cylinders engines. No all-wheel drive.
1.1.2. All bodies must be unaltered OEM in OEM location and match frame.
1.1.3. Maximum wheel base 106".
1.1.4. Sunroofs and T-tops must be reinforced and enclosed in sheet metal.
1.1.5. All glass must be removed, all trim, side mirrors, interior mirrors, headlights, marker lights, rear lights and light lenses, etc. must be removed.
1.1.6. All windows must be open and clear, no windshield.
1.1.7. All doors must be securely fastened. (bolted, chained or welded shut)
1.1.8. Minimum of 3 windshield bars 6" apart either welded or bolted vertically in windshield opening in front of driver.
1.1.8. If fuel tank is mount under floor in trunk you must have a steel firewall must separate the driver from the fuel tank.
1.1.10. Stock hood and trunk lid hinges must to remain in OEM location.
1.1.11. Hood and trunk must be fastened with pins.
1.1.12. Stock Seat is acceptable, providing it is securely fastened to roll cage
1.1.13. Hood must have two 4" holes for fire and emergency crew access.
1.1.14. Making car lighter is not permitted.
1.1.15. All floorboards must remain stock.
1.1.16. No reflective body panels.
1.1.17. Numbers must be painted or decale on the roof and front side doors. Minimum 16” in height and 2 ½” in brush width. Numbers must be in contrasting colour with the vehicle. All numbers must all be similar in appearance. The base of the roof number must face the passenger side. Any number deemed illegible may have to be changed.
1.1.18. All flammable materials must be removed.
1.1.19. All vehicles must have tow hoops, hooks, or chains mounted to the frame front and rear.
1.1.20. No driver-adjustable devices allowed while car is in competition
1.1.21. Driver must be seal off from track, drive-line, engine and fuel cell.
1.1.22. Rub rails ends must be angled in so nothing can catch on them. No bigger than 1” x 2” or 2” round tubing.
1.1.23. Must be run from body wheel well to wheel well.
1.1.24. No sharp edges allowed on bumpers, rub rails or bolts.
1.1.25. Minimum 16 inch by 20 inch ribbon or mesh style, and must be mounted so latch is at top front of window.
1.1.26. No part of net or mounting system to be outside the car.
1.2.1. Aluminum high-back seat only and must be bolted to roll cage.
1.2.2. Numbers painted on rear driver’s side of trunk lid.
1.2.3. Minimum 22 gauge Steel to be used for rear firewall.
1.2.4. Minimum 22 gauge Steel to be used for repairing holes.
1.3.1. A screen may be fastened over the windshield bars and may be painted flat black.
.2. Roll Cage
2.1.1. Main cage must have a minimum of 4 points, consisting of a rear hoop, optionally petty bar, and two kicker bars. A Minimum 1.75" O.D. tubing, with a minimum wall thickness of 0.095", low carbon or mild steel recommended. Full roll cages are allowed.
2.1.2. No upright or post type roll bar.
2.1.3. No part of the roll cage can extend outside of the body.
2.1.4. Cage must be plate mounted to body.
2.1.5. No exhaust pipe bends or pipe in roll cage.
2.2.1. All stress points of the main cage may be gusseted.
3.1.1. Sway bars must remain on car. Must remain in OEM location and must be OEM to frame.
3.1.2. Heavy duty shocks and struts are allowed.
3.1.3. Maximum of one shock per corner.
3.1.4. No adjustable or air shocks allowed.
3.1.5. Swapping of parts must be from same family (civic to civic).
3.1.6. Extra bracing on A arms is allows but must be same length and width as OEM measurements.
3.1.7. Strut support bars are allowed.
4. Engine and Drivetrain
4.1.1. Twin over head cam and fuel injection allowed.
4.1.2. No diesel, super charged or turbo charged engines allowed.
4.1.3. Engine must be from OEM family (civic to civic).
4.1.4. Any 4 cylinder car allowed.
4.1.5. No rotary engines allowed.
4.1.6. Front wheel drive only, no all wheel driver allowed.
4.1.7. Manual or Automatic transmission allowed.
4.1.8. Transmission must to factory stock from make and model.
4.1.9. Mufflers are optional but exhaust must exit away from driver.
4.1.10. Maximum 1 7/8" exhaust pipe.
4.1.11. Any 2 barrel OEM carburetor may be used.
4.1.12. No carberator space plates or adapters allowed.
4.1.13. No anti-freeze in radiator, water only.
4.1.14. Standard pump gas only, no performance additives allowed.
4.1.15. Battery must be securely fastened in OEM location.

4.3.1. Catalytic convert may be remove.
5. Wheels and Tires
5.1.1. Stock OEM wheels and tires to that vehicle on all corners.
5.1.2. All season or summer tires only.
5.1.3. Tires must be D.O.T. approved.
5.1.4. No sipeing, grooving or altering tires in any way.
5.1.5. Wheel and tire must not stick out past body.
5.1.6. OEM Mag wheels acceptable.

5.3.1. May drop down 1 wheel size.
6. Wheels and Tires
6.1.1. Stock OEM brakes.
6.1.2. No brake bias adjusters.
6.1.3. No converting drum to disc brakes.
6.1.4. All four corners must properly function.
7. Personal Safety
7.1.1. Snell-rated SA2000, or SA2005 preferred however SA95 helmets are acceptable.
7.1.2. No "M" rated helmets.
6.1.3. All drivers must wear fire resistant coveralls or fire suits with at least a SFI 3-2A/1 rating. If single layer suits are used.
6.1.4. All drivers will wear fire resistant shoes. Any leather shoe is acceptable and the use of proper racing shoes is encouraged.
6.1.5. All drivers must wear Fire Resistant wear gloves while racing. Mechanic Type gloves are not acceptable.
6.1.6. Absolutely no material other than fire resistant fabrics are allowed.
6.1.7. Minimum 3" wide SFI-approved 5-point safety belt assembly required (Y-type shoulder harness not allowed), must be mounted securely to roll cage,
6.1.8. Certification patches will be checked and any frayed, weathered or damaged belts must be replaced.
6.2.1. Helmets should have a face shield, goggles are discouraged.
6.2.2. The use of multi-layered suits is encouraged.
6.2.3. Fire retardant neck brace
6.2.4. Fire retardant head sock and underwear
6.2.5. Shoulder harness should be mounted no more than 10” behind the driver’s head and below shoulder height Belts should be removed, cleaned and stored in a dry place out of any direct sunlight
